session 10

" tenth assignment "



My experience with my project:

In this project I learn a lot of things because this is my first time that I deal with online creating course project and delivering online learning resources.
The time was the challenging that I face it in this project because that I have to explore a lot of information that related to this topic.
In my online class I created my websait that I was learned how to do it with dr, Newberry in etec500 class. This websait include course document, each student must creat own blog and post his/her assignment. There are some video, audio and text in my websait. I asked my student to download free skype program to communicate with each other. I added some link video from youtube that can explain how to create blog also my syllabes has my own power point that I created. The important thing that I have done my websait that I tested every thing that my websait include.
My job as instructor in this course : is to deliver this course to the students and develop their skills to make them able to create their own blogs and adding their information there. Also will answer my student question. Before I delivering this course I should test every thing that my websait include for example: I will try to open my websait ,the powe point, and all links by useing different kind of software Mackintosh and Microsoft. After creating my online course I have to ask some of experts in this filed to test my course also the tools that I used.

I will interact with students to keep them motivated:
I will ask them to comment in another student’s blog
I will shares with the students (whom have correct assignment) what they did right for example: I will use motivational words like “good job”, “great post”.
On the other hand who have mistake, I will gives them information on how to correct their mistake for example: I will explain them mistake and give them chance to corrects them mistake and email me. Also I will use motivational words like “ I know that you can do it”, “I know you can improve”.
I will put extra credit to the student who makes 4 posts in the first day assignment.

I will handle grading for students by using my email:
After each assignment I will send a grades to students and I will give them four of days to fix their mistakes. The student who late delivery of his assignment he will lose 10% from his grades.

Planning and production of my online class:

I don’t have access to a CMS because of that I used a website to present my course. My course include many important links. First, a syllabus includes the name of the course, some information about me, my email my office hour, the grading system, lists course policies. Second, the schedule of class includes sessions, the homework assignments, links to some videos that can help students to create own blogs, also it include my own materials that I created for this course. Also in this course I will discuss the material development.

session 8



eighth assignment




In my online class I will create a blog that include course document, each student must post their assignment every week. There are some video, audio and text in my blog. I will use Blogger web site also I will ask student to download free skype program to communicate with each other so that they can do their project with each other. I will use video from youtub that can explain how to create blog also the blog will have my power point cast that I created. The important thing that I should do,
i will test my power point by try to open it in different computers and different kind of software like Macintosh and Microsoft

After creating my power point I have to ask some of experts in this filed to test my course also the tools that I used and my power point.

The navigation system of blogger is very easy to use. For example: They need to select a template that will conduct their information. Also they will write some of information about themselves, like, their names, their interest, and downloads their photos. Also the student put how we can contact them, for example: their emails.

" Seventh Assignment "

Development, Media Choices and Considerations





Online class:
The technology has become indispensible part in our lives. In last few years ago, online courses are more common used in colleges. Since I've been in college in Saudi Arabia I had never deal with online classes because we don’t have this technology in some of our universities.

My Experience:
I’ve been taken two online courses in CSUSB so far; the first one was ETEC 500 with Dr Newberry it was difficult in the first class but I like it after few classes I enjoy online class and I toke another class that was ETEC 676 in summer 09 with Dr Newberry. I have deal with new tools of technology like: podcasts, audio and video, chatting, skype program and blogs. There are a few reasons that make online classes successful one of them: online class is make learning more interesting. In my experience with online classes make learning more easy to get my education it allow me to be a full time student without coming to the university, because I am a mother and wife.

There are some of advantage and disadvantage of online classes :

The advantage of online class in general way:
For students: they can play the lectures at anytime at any place, to take notes, complete assignment, do research, also to send and receive e-mail. Also students can share their information all over the world.

For Instructors: they can record the lectures by using padcast or video. also they can access to their students 24/7. Online class makes learning more interactive, more enjoyable, and more customizable. It improves students’ attitudes toward content and their interest in learning.

Strengths and weaknesses of using thread discussion and skype :



(1) Threaded discussion: (definition)
This is one of the tools of online class, it make student communicant with each other and with their instructor .
The strengths :
Share knowledge:
Student can share their experiences with each other
Improve critical thinking:
Student can improve their critical thinking skills.
Also students can post their idea with out feel shy.
The weaknesses :
I agree with dr Newberry that "the oldest post stays on top and to find new messages you must scroll down to the botto m. The hierarchical layout of threaded discussion also makes it difficult to scan through the posts. And it can be difficult to follow all of the threads, especially long ones, without some frustration."

(2) Skype:
Skype is a free program that allows student to chat with other and with their instructor through text, audio, and video.

The strengths :
* Free to Download.
* students can connected with students who learning similar subject in the worldwide.
* teachers can be available to their students.
The weaknesses :
* Doesn't work as well with student that have slower internet connections .
* Doesn't work as well with student that have problem with typing .

The Online Class :
In this class I will focus to development online materials , I would use a power point to put my lecture also I would use skype to contact with my student and allow them to contact with each other . Student can connected with me by using email , they can send their assignment to me every week also answer my question that i put it in the end of my lecture.

" Sixth Assignment "



Course Content Characteristics:
My online class plan:
Content:
Is this course I will focus to make every student feel convertible by using new technology that is bloge.

Instructor:
This course will be design by me, I will use my knowledge in online learning . I will create my own power point.

Student:
The students in this class are college freshmen they don’t have online learning experience specially with blogs.
The expected students will be in the course between 9 to 12 students.

The problem:
Some of the students don’t know how to deal with blogs.

The expected Time of the course :
This course will be 2 weeks long.

Course Goal:
Develop students’ skills and make them able to create their own blogs.

Communication method:
* I will use my website and email to contact with students.
* I will ask student to view my own power point download skype program to communicate with each other so that they can do their project with each other.

general plan :
In the first and second class I will ask them to create their own blogs to post their assignment in it. They can find the steps in my power point that i create it for this class ,and some recommend blogs in the teacher website “my website”.
Each student must post their assignment every week and also they should but same thing he/she like to share with another students, that not related to the subject “that make student be more active in their blogs “

You will select a template that will conduct your information.
You will write some of information about you, For example: your name, your interesting, and your photo.
You will but how we can contact you, for example: your email.

You need to post comments to your classmates.
“Students need to read each other’s posts and comment on them.”

My special post:
You need to post some thing you like to
share it with your classmates. “That not related to the subject”, this idea make student be more active in their blogs because blogs should not be a solo activity.

"forth Assignment "





1. Explain what is meant by the dichotomy between the Internet as Content Transmitter and Internet as Communication Tool. Explain your perspective on this dichotomy.???

Internet serve students through two ways:
First: “Provides the content to students” through Blackboard , an audio lecture, video lecture ,podcast .
Teacher can record his voice and post it in his website, or in blackboard with some question to make sure his student understand the lecture also he add some links about the object of the lecture in the blackboard to help student to learn more. Students can listen to the lecture and answer the question and send it to teacher email.
Second: “communicate between students and their teachers also with student themselves” through blog , email, Live Messenger, Skype, and Web Site.
I like using the Internet as a communication tool because I didn’t deal with it before I came to America, I learned a lot of things in online class like ; how to create webpage, blogs, using chatting program.

2. How can good instructional design ensure that the course meets student needs?


* The good instructional design can ensure that the course meets student needs in many ways

* The good instructor always need his students feedback about the learning experience in courses. When the feedback is negative the instructors should be flexible and fax any raising problems wail keeping the project on track

* The good instructor always want make sure his students understand his lecture by give them question in blackboard or by email.

* The good instructor try to make every student active in his blogs by ask him to add every post weekly, and also make comment in other student blogs.

3. How can good instructional design ensure course quality?

The good instruction design should focus in many things to make ensure about course quality:

*The course should have Interaction between the students with each other and between the student and the teacher also the course should be easy to use by students.

*The good instructor asks his students to give hem feedback about the learning experience in the course.

*The Instructional design can ensure course quality by student answer for the their homeworks or the student comments with each other in our blogs he should make sure that all students are on the same track.

4. What is the difference between course level and individual activity level design?

The course level will be focus on specific objective of the course and different activity that related to technology for example: blackboard, lecture ,podcast.

Individual activity level based on students discussion and sharing their information with each other by using blogs to make comment with each other or by using email.

Be sure to start by giving a brief synopsis of the type of course you are designing for but try to make no assumptions about the content, the instructor or the students.

Start with Analysis: What methods would you use to understand:

A. Student Characteristics and Expectations

Students don’t know how to deal with website with use html language and blog, the teacher interested to add this technology in their class, but they have little experience with create website “HTML” and blog.

B. Instructor Characteristics and Expectations

Instructor is very successful in create website with use html language and blog.

C. Content

Contents will include podcast and videos/audios and some website page can explain to students how to create website and use blogs.

d. How to Determine if Content Has Been Learned

To determine whether content has been learned is to have each student create own website by using HTML and using blogs.

Next deal with Design: What method or process would you use to design the course? What kinds of constraints would your CMS force on you as a designer?

To design the course I would use a university library and do a lot of search about how to create website by use HTML. The student can contact with me by using email and website. The CMS will limited students and teachers creativity because it provide teacher with limited tools so teacher cannot develop their skills

Finally, explain how you would do development and testing of content.

In developing my project, I will post every information in my blackboard to help them to create their own website and own blog, and ask them to email me everything that they finished so far, that I can see their skills development. Also I will provide them with good website that shows them how to improve their skills. At the end I will grades them according to their development on there website.
